Excavator Training Benoni
CETA-Accredited Excavator Operator Certificate at Our Germiston Campus
United Training Centre trains Benoni job-seekers for their CETA-accredited Excavator Operator certificate at our Germiston campus — a short drive from anywhere in Benoni. The 1-week course costs R5,000, follows SAQA Unit Standard 262744 (Operate an Excavator, NQF Level 2), and results in a certificate recognised across Benoni’s heavy engineering and industrial employers.
Apex Industrial’s engineering firms, including Anicic Heavy Engineering which fabricates mining conveyors, mills, crushers and cranes, regularly require excavator operators for foundation work and site preparation as facilities expand and new equipment installations take place.
No overnight travel required — Benoni is a short drive from our Germiston campus. Free accommodation is available if you’d prefer to stay on-site for the week instead. Call us on +27 81 795 8133 to enrol.
Excavator vs TLB — Which Certificate Do You Actually Need?
🏗️ EXCAVATOR
🚜 TRACTOR LOADER BACKHOE (TLB)
WHICH ONE DO YOU NEED?
If your work is deep excavation, foundations or bulk earthmoving — you need the excavator certificate. If your work is general site tasks and moderate trenching — a TLB covers it. Many Benoni engineering contractors need both; you can complete Excavator Training and TLB Training back to back at our Germiston campus.
The OHS Act’s Driven Machinery Regulations require all excavator operators to hold a formal Certificate of Competency aligned to SAQA Unit Standard 262744 before operating an excavator on any site.
🏗️ ANICIC HEAVY ENGINEERING AND APEX INDUSTRIAL'S FABRICATION FIRMS
Anicic Heavy Engineering, which manufactures mining conveyors, mills, crushers and cranes, along with the wider Apex Industrial fabrication cluster, requires excavator operators for foundation work when installing large equipment on-site.
🏭 APEX CORDSET TECHNOLOGIES AND MANUFACTURING FACILITY EXPANSION
As Benoni’s manufacturing base continues to grow, facility expansion projects generate demand for certified excavator operators for foundation and site preparation work.
🏗️ CIVIL CONTRACTORS AND ROAD-INFRASTRUCTURE WORK
Benoni’s ongoing road-infrastructure upgrades and civil development require certified excavator operators for bulk excavation and foundation work on larger projects.
🏗️ SHARED INDUSTRIAL NODES WITH BOKSBURG
Benoni’s Dunswart and Anderbolt industrial areas support a wide mix of civil and engineering employers, all requiring CETA-accredited excavator operators.

What Benoni Students Say About Excavator Training at United Training Centre
"I worked as a site labourer for an engineering firm in Apex Industrial doing foundation work for a new equipment installation. When a bigger foundation job came up, my supervisor said I could move onto the excavator if I got certified. Germiston was a short drive from Benoni, so I commuted daily for the week and was operating on-site the following week."
