Building South Africa's Workforce — One Certified Artisan at a Time
About United Training Centre
Our Mission
United Training Centre is one of South Africa’s most trusted accredited training providers — training machine operators, artisans, safety officers and professional drivers since 2009. From a single campus in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, we have grown into a national network of five fully equipped training facilities serving students from every province.
In 17 years we have certified more than 15,000 students. Construction workers, mine operators, truck drivers, welders, boilermakers, electricians, safety officers and mine managers have all walked through our doors without a qualification and left with an accredited certificate recognised by every major employer in South Africa.
We exist for one reason: to give South Africans the certified skills that get them hired, promoted and paid what their ability deserves.
Accredited
Training aligned with SAQA, TETA and MERSETA unit standards.
Job Placement Support
After training, we assist with CV preparation, interview readiness, and employer connections to help you move quickly into employment.
Free Accommodation
We provide safe, comfortable free accommodation for students during training, helping you focus on learning without worrying about travel or living costs.
Our Accreditations — What They Mean and Why They Matter
Every certificate issued by United Training Centre is accredited by a South African government-recognised SETA or quality assurance body. This means your certificate is not just a piece of paper — it is a legally recognised qualification accepted by construction companies, mining houses, logistics operators, manufacturers and government departments across South Africa.
TETA — TRANSPORT EDUCATION AND TRAINING AUTHORITY
TETA accredits our lifting equipments, earthmoving machines, construction machinery, mining specialiszed equipments, and driving school courses — including Forklifts (Counter-balance, Reach trucks, Order pickers), Mobile Cranes (Various tonnage capacities like 80T, 150T, etc.)Tower Cranes (Climbing and remote/cab operated), Overhead Cranes (and Gantry cranes), Truck-Mounted Cranes (Hiabs), Container Handlers & Reach Stackers, TLB (Tractor Loader Backhoe), Excavators, Front-End Loaders, Motor Graders, Bulldozers, Dump Trucks (Articulated Dump Trucks (ADT), 777 Off-highway trucks), Rollers & Compactors, Skid Steer Loaders (Bobcat), Underground Dump Trucks LHD / Scoop (Loader Haul Dumper), Drill Rigs (Surface and Underground), Utility Vehicles & Water Trucks, Roof Bolt Drill Rigs, Learners License, Code 8, Code 10 and Code 14 superlink training. TETA-accredited certificates are the standard for all professional driver training in South Africa.
CETA — CONSTRUCTION EDUCATION AND TRAINING AUTHORITY
CETA accredits our construction-related courses — including COMSOC 1, 2 and 3 (Construction Health and Safety Officer), Scaffolding, Working at Heights and Construction Safety Officer training. CETA is the authority that governs skills development for the construction sector.
MERSETA — MANUFACTURING, ENGINEERING AND RELATED SERVICES SETA
MERSETA accredits our artisan and engineering courses — including Welding, Boilermaking, Electrical Artisan, Diesel Mechanic, Fitter and Turner, Millwright and Trade Test Preparation. MERSETA-accredited qualifications are the standard for manufacturing and engineering employment.
QCTO — QUALITY COUNCIL FOR TRADES AND OCCUPATIONS
QCTO governs our occupational qualifications and Trade Test assessments. The QCTO is the body under which the National Artisan Learner Record (Red Seal certificate) is issued to qualifying artisans.
MQA — MINING QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY
MQA accredits our mining-specific courses — including machine operator training for TLBs, excavators, dump trucks and other mining equipment, as well as Competent B and Competent A examination preparation under the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996.
SAQA — SOUTH AFRICAN QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY
All qualifications issued by United Training Centre are registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) under SAQA — the body that maintains South Africa’s national qualifications system. This registration confirms that our certificates carry formal NQF-level recognition.
Our Story — From One Campus in Nelspruit to Five Branches Nationwide
United Training Centre was founded in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga in 2009 with a clear purpose — to provide accredited, practical, industry-relevant training to workers in the mining, construction and industrial sectors of South Africa’s Lowveld and beyond.
The Lowveld region sits at the heart of South Africa’s industrial engine. Mpumalanga’s coal mines, game reserves, citrus and timber industries, and the freight corridor running from Gauteng to Mozambique along the N4 all require skilled, certified operators, artisans and drivers. We saw the skills gap and we filled it.
From the original Nelspruit campus at 32 Bell Street, we opened our Germiston branch to serve Gauteng’s construction and industrial base — one of the largest concentrations of industrial employers on the African continent. Rustenburg followed, placing us in the heart of South Africa’s platinum mining belt in the North West Province. Then Witbank (eMalahleni), serving Mpumalanga’s coal mining operations and the power station corridor. And Polokwane, the commercial and mining hub of Limpopo Province.
Five branches. Five mining and industrial regions. One standard of training.
In 17 years we have never compromised on the quality of instruction, the standard of equipment used in training, or the accreditation standards applied to every certificate we issue. Our 98% pass rate is not a marketing number — it is the result of smaller class sizes, more machine time per student, and instructors who have worked in the industries they teach.
Industries and Sectors We Serve Across South Africa
United Training Centre trains individuals and corporate teams across every major industrial sector in South Africa:
MINING
South Africa’s mining sector — gold, platinum, coal, chrome, iron ore, manganese, diamonds and base metals — is the largest employer of machine operators, artisans and certified supervisors in the country. We train TLB, excavator, dump truck, LHD scoop and drill rig operators for underground and surface mining operations. We prepare candidates for Blasting Certificates, Competent B (Mine Overseer) and Competent A (Mine Manager) examinations under the Mine Health and Safety Act. MQA accredited.
CONSTRUCTION
South Africa’s construction industry employs craneoperators, scaffolders, safety officers, welders and drivers on projects ranging from residential estates to billion-rand infrastructure. We supply the Forklift, Crane, Scaffolding, COMSOC and Safety Officer qualifications that keep construction sites legally compliant under the Construction Regulations 2014.
LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORT
South Africa’s logistics sector moves billions of rands of goods daily along the N1, N3, N4 and N14 corridors. We train and license Learners License, Code 8, Code 10 and Code 14 superlink drivers — the backbone of the country’s freight network.
MANUFACTURING AND ENGINEERING
Factories, fabrication shops, steel erectors, food processing plants and automotive manufacturers require certified welders, boilermakers, electricians, fitters and turners. Our MERSETA-accredited artisan training and Trade Test Preparation programmes supply qualified Red Seal artisans to South Africa’s manufacturing sector.
AGRICULTURE AND AGRO-PROCESSING
The Lowveld’s citrus, avocado, macadamia and timber industries, and the packhouses along the N4 corridor, require forklift operators, TLB operators and drivers with valid certifications. We are the most accessible accredited training provider for agricultural employers in Mpumalanga.
GOVERNMENT AND MUNICIPAL SERVICES
Municipal departments, provincial government and national entities require certified artisans, safety officers and drivers for infrastructure maintenance and service delivery. Our accreditations align with the skills development requirements of public sector employers.
Why 15,000+ Students Have Chosen United Training Centre
There are many training providers in South Africa. Here is what makes United Training Centre different:
✅ ACCREDITED CERTIFICATES ACCEPTED NATIONWIDE
Every certificate we issue is TETA, CETA, MERSETA, QCTO or MQA accredited and registered on the NQF under SAQA. Site managers, HR departments and compliance auditors accept our certificates without question.
✅ REAL EQUIPMENT — REAL MACHINES
You do not train on diagrams or simulators. Our students operate actual TLBs, excavators, forklifts, cranes, welding equipment and articulated trucks from day one. The practical competency you develop in our training yard is the same competency you demonstrate on your first day of work.
✅ INSTRUCTORS WITH INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Every instructor at United Training Centre has worked in the industry they teach. Our forklift instructors have operated forklifts on mine sites and in warehouses. Our welding instructors hold Red Seal certificates. Our safety instructors have managed real construction site safety programmes. You learn from people who have done the job.
✅ 98% FIRST-TIME PASS RATE
Our pass rate is the result of smaller class sizes — more one-on-one time with instructors — and more practical machine time per student than any competitor. We do not move a student through to assessment until they are genuinely ready.
✅ FREE ACCOMMODATION FOR ALL STUDENTS
Any student travelling from outside the training centre area gets free, safe accommodation for the full duration of the course. This makes United Training Centre accessible to workers from every province — and from communities that would otherwise have no access to this level of training.
✅ JOB PLACEMENT SUPPORT
After completing your course, we actively connect you with employers who are recruiting. We provide CV preparation, interview guidance and direct referrals to hiring companies in your trade and region. Many of our graduates find employment within weeks of receiving their certificate.
✅ FIVE LOCATIONS — CLOSE TO WHERE YOU WORK
Nelspruit, Germiston, Witbank, Polokwane and Rustenburg — placed at the centre of South Africa’s five major mining and industrial corridors. If you are in Mpumalanga, Gauteng, Limpopo or North West, there is a United Training Centre near you.
✅ COMPETITIVE PRICING — NO HIDDEN COSTS
Our course fees are transparent and competitive. There are no hidden registration fees, no assessment surcharges. What we quote is what you pay — including accommodation where applicable.
Our Track Record in Numbers
These are not marketing numbers. They are the result of 17 years of consistent, quality training:
15,000+ CERTIFIED STUDENTS
More than fifteen thousand individuals across South Africa have received an accredited certificate through United Training Centre since 2009. They work in mines, on construction sites, behind the wheel of superlink trucks and in factories and fabrication shops from Cape Town to Musina.
50+ ACCREDITED COURSES
We offer more than fifty individual accredited courses across six training categories — Earth Moving, Lifting and Cranes, Artisan and Trades, Driving School, Safety and Health, and Engineering. No single provider in our region matches this breadth of accredited training under one roof.
98% FIRST-TIME PASS RATE
Across all our courses and all our branches, 98% of our students pass their competency assessment on their first attempt. The national average for operator training first-time pass rates is significantly lower. We achieve this through smaller classes, more machine time and instructors who genuinely invest in every student.
15+ YEARS OF OPERATION
United Training Centre has been operating, expanding and improving since 2009. We have survived economic downturns, regulatory changes and a global pandemic — and emerged with more branches, more courses and a stronger reputation than when we started. When you train with us, you train with a provider that will still be here when you need a renewal or an upgrade.
