Certificate Renewal South Africa
Renew Expired Safety, Operator & Welding Certificates 2026
United Training Centre offers fast, accredited certificate renewal across South Africa for safety certificates, machine operator certificates, crane certificates, welding certificates and professional driving permits. Whether your certificate has already expired or is about to expire, we get you back on site — legally and quickly.
We renew certificates for individual workers and for companies managing teams of 5 to 500 employees across construction, mining, manufacturing, logistics and agriculture. Our certificates are accredited by TETA, CETA, MERSETA and QCTO — accepted by all major employers, site managers and compliance auditors in South Africa.
In South Africa, most occupational certificates carry a fixed validity period. This is a legal requirement under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993), the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Driven Machinery Regulations. Certificates expire because skills, safety standards and regulatory requirements are periodically updated — and operators must be reassessed to confirm they remain competent and compliant.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR CERTIFICATE EXPIRES
For individual workers:
For employers and companies:
RENEWAL IS FAST — ACTING LATE IS EXPENSIVE
United Training Centre renews most certificates within 1 to 5 days depending on the course. The cost of a renewal is a fraction of the cost of a site shutdown, a fine, a dismissal or an insurance claim. Do not wait.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR EMPLOYERS
If your operators’ certificates have lapsed for more than 12 months, a full skills reassessment may be required rather than a simple renewal. Contact us with your operators’ certificate details and we will advise you on the fastest compliant path to renewal.
Call +27 81 795 8133 or WhatsApp to confirm your machine operator renewal and check available dates at your nearest branch.
Crane operator certificates are among the most heavily audited qualifications in the South African construction and mining industries. DMR (Department of Mineral Resources and Energy) inspectors and site safety officers verify crane operator certificates on every formal inspection. An expired crane certificate means the operator cannot lift — and the crane cannot work.
United Training Centre renews all crane and lifting equipment operator certificates at our branches in Nelspruit, Germiston, Witbank, Polokwane and Rustenburg.
TOWER CRANE OPERATOR CERTIFICATE RENEWAL
MOBILE CRANE OPERATOR CERTIFICATE RENEWAL
OVERHEAD CRANE OPERATOR CERTIFICATE RENEWAL
TELEHANDLER OPERATOR CERTIFICATE RENEWAL
REACH STACKER OPERATOR CERTIFICATE RENEWAL
WINCH OPERATOR CERTIFICATE RENEWAL
IMPORTANT NOTE:
All crane and lifting certificate renewals include a practical reassessment in the relevant machine to confirm continued operator competency. Certificates are accredited under TETA and meet the requirements of the Driven Machinery Regulations and the Construction Regulations.

Coded welder certificates in South Africa have short validity periods — typically 6 months to 2 years depending on the welding process and the standard under which the welder was coded. This means welders in active employment must renew their coding regularly to remain compliant and employable.
An expired coded welder certificate means the welder cannot produce certified welds on a formal project — construction, manufacturing, petrochemical, mining or fabrication work. Many employers require welders to present a current, in-date coding certificate before they are allocated to any job.
United Training Centre renews all coded welder certificates at our workshops in Nelspruit, Germiston, Witbank, Polokwane and Rustenburg.
TIG WELDING CERTIFICATE RENEWAL
CO2 WELDING (MIG/MAG) CERTIFICATE RENEWAL
ARC WELDING (SMAW) CERTIFICATE RENEWAL
ALUMINUM WELDING CERTIFICATE RENEWAL
DOUBLE CODED WELDER CERTIFICATE RENEWAL
IMPORTANT NOTE
Welders who have allowed their code to lapse for more than 6 months may need to undergo a full recoding rather than a standard renewal. Contact us with your expired certificate details and we will advise you on the correct process and cost before you commit.

What Our Students and Companies Say About Certificate Renewal
"I only realised my forklift certificate had expired when security stopped me at the site gate on a Monday morning. I called United Training Centre in Nelspruit that same day. They confirmed a renewal slot for the following day, I completed the refresher and assessment in two days and had my new certificate by Wednesday. I was back on site Thursday morning. I could not believe how quickly they sorted it out. The instructor was thorough and the certificate was accepted by the site safety officer immediately."
What Our Students and Companies Say About Certificate Renewal
"We had a DOL audit scheduled and discovered that 14 of our team members had expired first aid and working at heights certificates. I called United Training Centre on the Monday and they had all 14 workers renewed and certified by Friday of the same week. They handled the entire scheduling, kept us updated throughout and delivered digital copies of all certificates to our safety officer by Friday afternoon. The audit passed. I have United Training Centre saved as our preferred renewal provider."
