Lifting & Crane Courses

// ALL COURSES

Lifting machinery is one of the most regulated and highest-risk categories of equipment in South African workplaces. The Occupational Health and Safety Act requires all operators of forklifts, cranes and lifting equipment to be trained and certified before they operate any machinery.

At United Training Centre we offer comprehensive lifting and crane operator courses covering everything from counterbalance forklifts to tower cranes and reach stackers. All training is done on real machines in real operational conditions — the same environment you will work in on the job.

Certificates are accredited by TETA and CETA and are recognised by employers across construction, mining, warehousing, ports and manufacturing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. All our lifting and crane courses meet the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act 85 of 1993) and the Driven Machinery Regulations. Lifting machinery operators are legally required to be trained and certified before operating any lifting equipment.

Our lifting and crane courses are accredited by TETA and CETA — certificates accepted by construction companies, mining operations, ports, warehouses and manufacturing plants across South Africa.

No prior experience is needed for most courses. You must be 18 years or older and medically fit to operate machinery.

All our lifting and crane courses are 7 days (one week). This includes theory, practical training and assessment.

A Slinger attaches loads to the crane hook. A Rigger plans and supervises the lifting operation and signals the crane operator. Our Rigger/Slinger course covers both roles.

Some courses can be combined. Contact us to discuss combining forklift with reach truck, or rigging with crane signalling for example.
