CETA-Accredited ADT and 777 Rigid Operator Certificates at Our Germiston Campus
New Vaal Colliery, an open-cast mine working three active pits just outside Vanderbijlpark, produces around 15 million tons of coal a year to feed Lethabo Power Station next door. Lethabo, in turn, burns roughly 50,000 tons of that coal a day and produces close to 23,000 tons of ash, most of which gets trucked out for reuse, largely by the cement industry. Between the pit and the ash yard, that’s a lot of material moving on dump trucks every single day.
United Training Centre trains Vanderbijlpark job-seekers for two CETA-accredited dump truck certificates: Articulated Dump Truck (ADT), aligned to SAQA Unit Standard 262745, and 777 Rigid Dump Truck, aligned to SAQA Unit Standard 262731. Both are NQF Level 2, 10-credit qualifications.
ADT training costs R5,000, and 777 Rigid costs R6,500. Each course runs 1 week, and you can do either one on its own or both back-to-back if you want both certificates.
Training happens at our Germiston campus, roughly 75 to 80 minutes away depending on traffic. Given the distance, free accommodation for the week is worth strong consideration if you’d rather not make that drive twice a day.

From Pit to Ash Yard — ADT or 777 Rigid Near Vanderbijlpark?

What Do the ADT and 777 Rigid Dump Truck Courses Cover?
Each course runs 5 days and combines classroom theory with practical machine time. Book either course on its own, or both back-to-back for a combined two-week programme.

Bus and taxi services run between Vanderbijlpark and Johannesburg, with onward connections to Germiston, though the trip involves at least one transfer.
