Grader Training Polokwane
CETA-Accredited Motor Grader Operator Certificate 2026
United Training Centre’s Polokwane campus offers CETA-accredited motor grader operator training, following SAQA Unit Standard 262735 (Operate a Grader, NQF Level 2), for students across Limpopo’s mining and logistics belt.
In May 2026, Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau officially designated the Fetakgomo-Tubatse Special Economic Zone in Limpopo’s Sekhukhune district — 1,220 hectares dedicated to platinum and chrome beneficiation, mining-linked manufacturing and logistics, backed by a R52 billion investment pipeline. As Limpopo’s business capital and the established support node for the province’s platinum, coal and chrome mines — including the Anglo American Platinum Polokwane Smelter — Polokwane is positioned to service the construction, road-building and plant-operator demand this new zone will generate for years to come.
Free accommodation is available for students travelling from outside Polokwane for the full training week. Call us on +27 81 795 8133 to enrol.
Grader vs TLB — Which Certificate Do You Actually Need?
🛣️ MOTOR GRADER
🚜 TRACTOR LOADER BACKHOE (TLB)
WHICH ONE DO YOU NEED?
If your work is shaping and maintaining a haul road or site surface — you need the grader certificate. If your work involves digging trenches or loading — you need the TLB. Mining and construction contractors across Limpopo’s mineral belt often need both; you can complete Grader Training and TLB Training back to back at our Polokwane campus.
The OHS Act’s Driven Machinery Regulations require all grader operators to hold a formal Certificate of Competency aligned to SAQA Unit Standard 262735 before operating a grader on any site.
🏗️ THE FETAKGOMO-TUBATSE SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE
Officially designated in May 2026, the 1,220-hectare Fetakgomo-Tubatse SEZ carries a R52 billion investment pipeline focused on platinum and chrome beneficiation, mining-linked manufacturing and logistics. A development of this scale requires extensive road-building and site-preparation work over the coming years, all of it dependent on certified grader operators.
⛏️ THE BUSHVELD IGNEOUS COMPLEX'S PLATINUM AND CHROME MINES
Limpopo’s share of the Bushveld Complex hosts extensive platinum group metal and chrome operations, including the Anglo American Platinum Polokwane Smelter, all requiring well-maintained haul roads and access routes serviced by certified grader operators.
🚚 POLOKWANE AS A LOGISTICS AND SUPPORT HUB
As Limpopo’s business capital, sitting on the N1 corridor connecting Gauteng to Zimbabwe and the wider region, Polokwane serves as the natural warehousing, distribution and support-services base for mining operations across the province, generating demand for certified plant operators supporting that supply chain.
🏛️ MUNICIPAL AND PROVINCIAL ROAD MAINTENANCE
Polokwane’s rapid growth as a transit and logistics hub has put pressure on its road infrastructure, with municipal and provincial roads departments requiring certified grader operators for ongoing maintenance work.

What Polokwane Students Say About Grader Training at United Training Centre
"I was doing general site labour for a civil contractor near Polokwane when word came through about new construction work linked to the mining zone being developed out toward Sekhukhune. My site manager said the company would need more certified grader operators as the work ramped up. I enrolled at United Training Centre Polokwane, and within the week I had my CETA certificate. I'm now on the crew doing access-road work for the new development."
