Scaffolding Training Nelspruit
Erect, Use and Dismantle Access Scaffolding Course at Our Nelspruit Campus

United Training Centre offers accredited Scaffolding training at its Nelspruit campus for R5,000 over 3 days, aligned to SAQA Unit Standard 263245 (NQF Level 3). The course covers erecting, using and dismantling access scaffolding — essential during annual shutdown maintenance at sites like TSB Sugar’s Malalane and Komati mills, where boilers and tall structures need safe temporary access. Free accommodation is available for students travelling from outside Nelspruit. Call +27 81 795 8133 to enrol.

When TSB Sugar’s Malalane and Komati mills shut down each year for major maintenance, boilers and tall structures need safe temporary access before maintenance crews can even start work — that’s scaffolding. Erected badly, it’s a fall hazard; erected properly, it’s the platform every other maintenance trade works from.

United Training Centre trains job-seekers in Nelspruit for an accredited Scaffolding qualification, aligned to SAQA Unit Standard 263245 (NQF Level 3), covering how to erect, use and dismantle access scaffolding safely. The course runs 3 days and costs R5,000.

Training happens at our Nelspruit campus. Free accommodation is available for students travelling in from outside the immediate area. Call us on +27 81 795 8133 to enrol.

Building the Platform Everyone Else Works From — What Scaffolding Work Looks Like on a Shutdown

Before boilermakers, riggers or electricians can start working at height during a shutdown, someone has to build safe access to that height first. A scaffold erector reads the job requirements, builds a structurally sound scaffold to the correct standard, and dismantles it again once the maintenance work is done — often working under the same tight shutdown time pressure as every other trade on site.

Scaffolding work covers assessing the structure needing access, erecting scaffold components to a safe, code-compliant standard, and inspecting scaffolding regularly for safety before other trades use it.

A poorly erected scaffold is a serious fall and structural collapse risk, which is why the OHS Act’s Construction Regulations require certified scaffold erectors on any site using access scaffolding.

🏭 TSB SUGAR MILL SHUTDOWN MAINTENANCE

Annual shutdowns at Malalane and Komati require certified scaffold erectors for safe access to boilers and structures.

🏗️ CONSTRUCTION AND INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE CONTRACTORS

Construction sites and industrial maintenance projects across the Lowveld also depend on certified scaffold erectors.

⛏️ MINING SURFACE INFRASTRUCTURE MAINTENANCE

Surface infrastructure and headgear maintenance at mining operations sometimes also requires scaffold access.

"I didn't expect scaffolding to involve so much thinking about load and structure — it's not just stacking poles. The practical erection training here gave me a good feel for it before I worked my first shutdown."
