Reach Truck Operator Training Nelspruit
TETA/CETA-Accredited Course at Our Nelspruit Campus

United Training Centre offers TETA/CETA-accredited Reach Truck Operator training at its Nelspruit campus for R4,000 over 7 days. The course covers narrow-aisle, high-bay racking operation — the standard warehouse setup for cold storage facilities like the Twypack Citrus Packhouse, which packs around 3,000 tons of fruit a week. Free accommodation is available for students travelling from outside Nelspruit. Call +27 81 795 8133 to enrol.

The Twypack Citrus Packhouse packs around 3,000 tons of fruit a week during the citrus season, and every pallet of packed produce has to go somewhere — into narrow-aisle, high-bay racking in a cold store, stacked as high and tight as the building allows to maximise capacity. A standard forklift can’t manoeuvre those aisles; a reach truck can.

United Training Centre trains job-seekers in Nelspruit for a TETA/CETA-accredited Reach Truck Operator qualification. The course runs 7 days and costs R4,000, covering narrow-aisle manoeuvring and high-bay racking operation.

Training happens at our Nelspruit campus — lifting and crane courses are also available at our Germiston and Rustenburg branches. Free accommodation is available for students travelling in from outside the immediate area. Call us on +27 81 795 8133 to enrol.

Stacking to Capacity — What Reach Truck Work Looks Like in a Cold Store

During peak citrus season, a packhouse cold store fills fast, and getting the most out of the available space means racking pallets high and packing aisles tight. A reach truck’s extending forks and narrow footprint let it lift pallets several racks up in an aisle barely wider than the truck itself.

Reach truck work in a packhouse cold store covers placing and retrieving pallets in high-bay racking, working precisely in narrow, often cold conditions, and keeping stock organised so specific batches can be located and dispatched quickly.

Working at height in narrow aisles carries real tip-over risk if handled incorrectly, which is why the OHS Act requires certified operators before anyone runs a reach truck.

🍊 TWYPACK AND OTHER LOWVELD CITRUS PACKHOUSE COLD STORES

High-bay racking operations require certified reach truck operators, especially during peak export season.

📦 GENERAL WAREHOUSING AND DISTRIBUTION FACILITIES

Warehouses across Nelspruit and Mbombela with high-bay racking also rely on certified reach truck operators.

🥑 MACADAMIA AND SUBTROPICAL FRUIT STORAGE FACILITIES

The Lowveld’s growing macadamia processing sector also uses reach trucks for warehouse stock management.

"I'd operated a normal forklift before but the reach truck was a different skill entirely — narrower aisles, higher lifts. The training here made the transition smooth. I'm working the cold store at a packhouse now."
